How to See Your ABS…

One of the most talked about trouble spots on the body… the Tummy! But how do you give yourself abs to be proud of next time you are strutting your stuff on that busy beach? Do 100 crunches per day until it starts to burn the fat off the belly?!

 

NO!

 

This is actually the precise goal of one of my personal training clients and we are using some high level, TOP SECRET tactics to get him to super defined abs in 10 weeks and just before Christmas, the restults are good so far, but il show you the end result later!

 

But there is a simple formula that you need to follow to give yourself a great start…

 

1) ACTIVATE the core muscles… ALL THE TIME! This is one of the first things I tell my personal training clients. This tactic will do the most work when it comes to tightening your tummy, if you can activate as much as possible, at home, at work, during exercise! Forget crunches, this is the thing!

 

 

2) Eat Right! It’s not abwork that reduces fat, it’s mainly what you eat that does! So FOCUS on it more than anything! I don’t have a lot of time to go into the details here, but keep to these 5 steps…

 

- Eliminate Sugar, Reduce Grain, Keep Hydrated, Eat Every 4 Hours in the daytime and Eat Natural Foods! This stuff works!

 

3) Abs Exercises! You need a regular total body workout programme to achieve best results, but our focus is for the abs today, so here are some of my favourites:

Cutting Out Sugar = Fat Loss

which is the best exercise to work my abs?”, am I eating too many nuts? I hear they can make me fat!“,which is the best gym in Bath?” These are some of the quesitons I have been asked in the last couple of weeks, but as we come towards the end of 2011 I tried to come up with one thing that trumps all the others if you are looking for fat loss, and quick fat loss at that.

Now hear me out… because I already know you know that sugar isn’t the best thing for you! And I don’t want to just tell you this, I want to give you an action plan! But first, you need to understand a little about why you are going to follow my action plan! You see, too much sugar causes your body to produce a lot of insulin to counter the high blood sugar levels! Another example of how the body always tries to look out for you! The touble is, too much insulin being produced causes your body to store fat! So even if you are doing heaps of training, you will still strugle to burn fat!

Now for the ACTION PLAN! I want you to do a sugar detox for just 2 weeks. That means no chocs, no sugary drinks, no alcohol, no cakes, no buscuits, no sweets! Just 2 weeks is all I ask, anybody can do that! Right?!

Seeing is Believing

Hey Superstar!

 

Yesterday I had a skype call with one of my awesome personal training clients, Luke! We don’t actually see each other, but we talk for 1 session per week via Skype, and I create him high level nutrtion and training programmes.

 

At the end of every month we track his progress and he sends me a photo of how his shape has changed! Im going to show you that photo first, and before you scroll down, I want you to guess how long it took! Il give you a clue… LESS THAN A YEAR!

 

 

The answer may suprise you…

 

Okay so we have been working on his project for just under 3 MONTHS! But Im not here to brag about how well he has done, thats not why I am writing this!

 

The reason I want to write this is to tell you the DEEPER reasons why Luke can achieve what he has and by Christmas WILL achieve so much more!

 

You see, yes, Luke follows the right training programme and now eats the right thing to achieve his goal, but let me tell you there is so much more to it than that! Even before he lifts a single weight!

 

Luke has a COMPELLING GOAL! “to get in shape” you may be thinking?! NO! Thats a goal, not a compelling goal! Lukes vision which, I can literally FEEL him getting excited when he talks about it, is to impress his friends at Christmas! To turn heads!

 

 

Due to this, and this alone, right now, he has become one of the most motivated people you will talk to! It makes me feel so pumped up every time we have a skype call! Because he knows EXACTLY what he wants to achieve and therefore will do EXACTLY what I say in order to get there!

 

And this got me thinking about achieving goals, who does, who doesn’t?! And this doesn’t just apply to getting in shape! Take me, for example!  Right now, my goal is to learn Chinese, thats my goal. But does this make me excited about going out and learning the language? Not really! BUT if I change the goal slightly and make it more compelling! Like for example when I next go to China, I am able order food fluently and shock the staff with my ability, yeah, THIS gets me motivated!! So, I will do whatever it takes to make this happen! The rest feels easy because I know how much I want it! I will find the right system/teacher to help me do it and come next June, I will shock the resteraunt staff! :-)

 

Whatever your goal, getting in shape, getting fit, getting healthy, competing in a sport, learning to box, learning a language… it has got to be something that excites you!

Try These New Smoothies For Me!

I love making smoothies because they can be made super healthy, they are quick to make, they can be stored for when you need a snack… all that good stuff! Try these out and let me know what you think!

 

Some say, it’s hard to get enough veg in when you are away on a course or going out and not sure what you are going to be eating! I say, If you know this is going to happen, start the day with one of these…

 

5-a-day Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

1 Carrot (chopped),  4 Florets of Broccoli,  2  Handfuls of Spinach,  1 Apple (chopped), 2  Oranges (peeled and quartered), handful of icecubes.

Blend together.

 

 

 

A client of mine challenged me to make a smoothie with lime in it! It’s quite tough to get this one right, but I think I may have done it! I have also chucked in a fish oil capsule because the flavour of the smoothie is strong and you won’t taste it…

 

Detox Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 medium lemon, peeled and deseeded, 1/2 medium lime, peeled and deseeded, 2 medium bananas, peeled juice from 1 large orange, 1-2 cups chopped kale, 1 fish oil capsule.

Blend together.

 

 

Cayenne pepper is a great metabolism booster! So start the morning well and  get this in your life…

 

Passion with a Boost Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

In a blender combine the pulp of 2 passion fruit, 1 mango cut into chunks, ½ cup of natural yoghurt , ½ cup of ice cubes, a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Blend together.

Setting Your Goal… Dig a little deeper!

Hey!

This is the first post in my newly updated blog! So if you are checking this out, WELCOME! I thought, where better to start than setting that initial goal!

Before I start working with any new client, I  ask them what their goal is?! What do they want to achieve?! The most common first answer is… “I want to get in shape!”

However this goal is not enough, it is not compelling enough! Your goal must make you want to get out of bed HUNGRY to achieve it! I want to show you a video from the GREAT Tony Robbins! A motivator that will say it better than I ever could:
